I blinked, and suddenly it's October. The baby is six months old, the racing season is finished, and there are Christmas trees in Myer already.
One of the highlights for the Cup Race was the Canicross (running with a dog on your belt) which was the first time the SHCV had offered this event. Czar went out with one of the girls and came back in second place - thanks to SU for giving him a great time!!!
One of the most entertaining things about Canicross is the fact that everyone takes off together in a Mass Start, instead of lining up and going out at 30 second intervals. Opportunities for chaos are everywhere, but so far, all the Canicross events have been incident free.
Thanks to Najodia Photography for the photos!
SU is laughing at Czar in the photo above because apparently he'd been trotting along without heaps of enthusiasm, until he came around the last bend and saw the crowd at the finish line - oh, an audience!!!!! Maybe we need to work on that "on home" command a bit more?
At the end of the weekend, I suggested to J that we try and get a "family portrait". It's really hard to take a photo of all four dogs, let alone with us and the Wee Monster in it, but we had some willing assistants, a stake out line and a bit of patience... So it was worth a shot.
The blooper reel is mildly entertaining....
At the NVSDC EOS weekend, there were lots of games, presentations and fun for the two legged folks. The weather was a bit warm, especially in the afternoon and evening, so we waited till the next morning to take the dogs out. A rare treat, J with Bolo and me with Czar, out on the trails together. Thanks to everyone who helped - baby sitting, loaning scooters, handling - it was a beautiful moment out together with our boys.
After a winter of not much exercise, three of us were a bit rubbish - my not-so-recently sprained ankle felt distinctly weak on the foot plate and I dreaded the impact of scooting with it. Czar was clearly feeling a bit puffed, as was J. Bolo, however, showed again why he has the nickname of The Machine. He just powered around that trail, and the three of us worked hard to keep up with him. Hopefully next winter we'll find more opportunities to take Bolo out for a run. He loves it so much!
Not sure who is watching who in this picture.
However, now the weather is warming up, I think all of the dogs are more interested in sunbaking, especially the new wheel dog for the Wee Monster's team. Happy spring everyone!
