The engagement

An amazing date, on the anniversary of our first date, a surprise dinner on the restaurant tramcar.

First, J asked about my fluency in Gaelic (it's minimal) and whether I could translate the phrase "mo anam cara" for him. I could recognise the word "my" and thought "anam" sounded similar to "acushla"- "sweetheart". He told me it was "my soulmate" and I'd be able to remember it because he'd got it put on a ring. Because he had another question to ask me.

At that point he brought out a ring box and I'm not sure I really remember how the next bit went, because all I remember is my pounding heart and flaming cheeks.
I do know that I let him finish the question!

The ring is beautiful, although temporary until we can find an Australian jeweller to make the Celtic design we both picked independently. It's been a crazy few days - starting with the tram exploding into cheers and singing around us, FB going ballistic with congrats and all our family and friends being very excited. We feel very loved and supported.

And yes, Ishka, Frankie, Bolo and Czar will be at the wedding. Not sure exactly what they'll be doing, but they won't be wearing tuxedos. (I'm superstitious about people wearing black at weddings, let alone dogs!)
